Westbrook Christian wins section tournament

SCOTTSBORO — The Westbrook Christian girls golf team scored a 259 to win the Class 1A-5A Section 4 tournament at Goose Pond Colony Golf Course on Tuesday.
Glencoe shot 261 and finished second. Alexandria also shot 261, but finished third because of losing a tiebreaker on a fourth playoff hole. Scottsboro’s 277 was good enough for fourth. Those four teams advanced to next week’s sub-state round.
Wesbrook Christian’s Ella Lawley finished second overall among individuals, carding an 81. She was one shot behind the winner, Glencoe’s Hope Bishop. Madison Cole of Glencoe and Colleen Skelton of Scottsboro both shot 88. Westbrook had two individuals qualify to play at sub-state in Ellie Porter, who scored 89, and Sydney Fairchild, who shot 90. Boaz’s Leigh Allison Reeves, who carded an 84, and Saks’ Caitlyn Shelly, who shot 90, both qualified as individuals at sub-state as well.
Low Medalist: Hope Bishop (G) 80.
