RAINBOW CITY — Westbrook Christian standout Colin Edwards led the Warriors past Etowah County rival Glencoe 67-44 Monday night.
Edwards made four 3-pointers and scored 24 points to go along with 11 rebounds to help Westbrook Christian improve to 2-1 on the season.
The game was close in the second quarter as, after Westbrook had jumped out to a 14-4 lead, the Yellow Jackets (1-1) rallied to take a brief lead.
Westbrook clinged to a 25-22 advantage midway through the second quarter before it went to a zone defense, which Glencoe struggled to solve. That allowed the Warriors to head into halftime up 41-27, and they cruised from there.
Joining Edwards in double-figures were Alex Perkins, Jonathan Ford and Jerryn Migliore. Perkins had 17 points and eight assists, Ford had 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Migliore added 11 points.
For Glencoe, Jonathan Gray scored a team-high nine points, while Dillon Tidmore scored eight points. Joseph Fails, Brock Little, Anthony Morris and Austin Hancock each scored five points.
Westbrook will play in the Asbury Thanksgiving Tournament on Wednesday and Friday. Glencoe travels to Southside on Monday.
