KIM CRAFT: Livingston, Westbrook win online polls for Week 4

Spring Garden’s Forrest Livingston and the Westbrook Warriors claimed top honors in The Gadsden Times’ online player and team of the week polls for performances during Week 4 of the 2012 high school football season.

Livingston took first place in the player poll with 243 votes (41.4 percent) from 587 cast at gtpreps.com. The Warriors claimed first place in the team poll after garnering 225 votes (47.3 percent).  

Livingston ran 14 times for 258 yards and two touchdowns against Coosa Christian as the Wildcats rolled to a 35-0 shutout victory Friday night. The speedy fullback is averaging 165 yards rushing and two touchdowns per game.

Gadsden City’s Chris Lawrence got 152 votes (25.9 percent) and finished second in the online player of the week voting, ahead of Glencoe’s Hunter Nunnally, Boaz’s Casey Wood and Geraldine’s Michael Davis, respectively.

Lawrence rushed for 214 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries in the Titans’ 35-7 win over Albertville.

Nunnally completed 14 of 21 passes for 199 yards, passed for a touchdown and scored another one on the ground in Glencoe’s 21-0 win over White Plains.

Wood completed 18 of 19 passes for 300 yards and a school passing record. He had a hand in all six touchdowns in the Pirates’ 45-10 win over Scottsboro.

Davis rushed for 133 yards and four touchdowns in Geraldine’s 42-19 win over New Hope.

In winning the team poll, Westbrook finished ahead runner-up Etowah, which got 150 votes (31.5 pecent) from the 476 made at gtpreps.com. The remainder of the votes were split among Sardis, Gadsden City and Glencoe.

With the Warriors’ victory in the online team poll voting, Southside’s streak of three-straight wins came to an end. The Panthers suffered their first loss of the season at then-No. 8 Fort Payne on Friday.

To vote weekly in the Times’ online player and team polls, log on to www.gtpreps.com/polls. The polls will be posted before midnight Friday when possible or can be accessed early Saturday.  

Votes cast are not automatically updated and shown, but should be able to be viewed in totals 15 minutes after being made. Multiple votes by the same user are allowed every 12 hours.
